From what I read in New Zealand, people do not tend to wear suits, interviews. Is that true? Interview and assessment will involve some lifting and exercise? I think a costume does not seem feasible. It would be a black pants and a T-shirt to be what they want?

Not a game - given your description of the evaluation. However, some interviews have are appropriate costumes - in which he wore a suit every day at work, for example.
They hope to shave a pleasant general appearance (eg, cleaning, or the beard, clean and generally well maintained, it is always useful). As for clothes, what you suggest sounds like a good idea. Tidy dress in New Zealand are sometimes ordered as Casual. Jeans and a shirt (usually no shirt) would be nice - and yes, make sure you have the choice of procedures for withdrawal, etc. - a try at home.
Do not hesitate to seek solutions, in spite of them - they should have no problems with you, please tell your man to him, he wanted to be sure I dress appropriately for the physical part of maintenance - and good luck.
You or your husband contacted the company asking what kind of clothes would not be practical for the evaluation? Normally I would say (as in the rest of the answer) to dress a little. But when the qualifying examination are the actual practice may be somewhat different. Most companies are quite reasonable on this issue, I think. Rather than just call and say, "What should I wear," Call and ask: "Is that a T-shirt and pants are best suited or casual clothing is best for this conversation." You need to understand difference and also shows that you think about the question you ask!
I always by the logic of the dress of go "UP". I think a few stores / plain black pants (no jeans) and a shirt, tie, perhaps, if it were a casual shirt is particularly good.
I work in an office with a relaxed dress code Informal businesses. We were very surprised if anyone in less than a good pair of trousers (or skirt) and T-shirt. This shows that one of the effort.

Much depends on the job. Most jobs do not require everyone agrees, but some do. Pants and a neatly pressed shirt and maybe a draw would be considered a clean clothes.
On the other hand, if you can to the foreman in a warehouse at the time, even a clean shirt, jeans and T in order to be considered.
I think the style is a good thing, not necessarily a suit. In New Zealand, dress is very casual. Many people barefoot, the children go to school, no shoes. I think that even clean shoes!
